PSICE IN RETROSPECT
It is often said that, “It takes great minds to initiate and implement a good idea, but I say; it takes similar spirit filled minds to sustain and improve upon such initiative”. Students In Church Evangelism as instituted by GHAFES now has different dimensions and trends of which PSICE is one.
PSICE has been one of the most consistent evangelism programmes of NUPS-G, hence a year without PSICE is like a minute without air to breathe. PSICE has taken different phases with NUPS-G Legon local, it being rural or urban evangelism, but a blend was perfect. The 2009 PSICE took place at Ga West Mission field and Sakumono Estate for rural and urban evangelism respectively.
As scripture emanates us to proclaim the good news to all and sundry, by adhering to the clarion call, we heeded with the theme “Snatch them from the fire- Save them for the Lord”. Thus we have been mandated to snatch the lost from the fire of the devil so that we can save them for the Lord.
PSICE that have been consistently a rural evangelism programme had a phase lift to an urban evangelism programme when for the first time we embarked on PSICE at an urban area, specifically Sakumono. This clear the untrue perception that, all in the urban area have must have heard the word of God as evangelists or PSICE participants were surprised to hear the rot happening in the city and for the fact that some have still not heard about Christ. PSICE was quite an enjoyable programme and stay with inspiration, teaching and motivation from Rev Gideon Puplampu, not forgetting the new activity “Street Freeze”.
With such an experience from the previous year, NUP-G couldn’t afford to embark on only rural PSICE nor urban PSICE but rather combine both. It is an unforgettable experience, thus while others are winning souls by way of house to house evangelism, dawn broadcasting, school and church ministrations, others are also praying fervently for those on the field and breaking barriers held up by lesser gods and their agents. This even led to threats from chief priests from the rural areas realizing their powers are being subdued, but we were never perturbed for we know that “ He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world”.
In accessing the achievements of PSICE participants at the various camps they evangelized, we cannot lose site of the fact that an impart was made through “tract distribution” and film show which saw a lot of souls being won for Christ. In as much as we preach Christ, we cannot overlook the fact that we have to provide some social amenities to the various communities. Hence some participants taught in schools which lacked teachers, the union as a whole embarked on painting the Public school at Samsam which has been relegated to deterioration for so long. This brought smile on the faces of even the traditional leaders and opinion leaders.
Behold, the Lord made things new in the various communities that PSICE was embarked upon, not only in their spiritual life but their social life as well, by getting free dresses and shoes from the union. Indeed praise to the most High God for equipping and strengthening us to snatch the souls from the enemy and bringing them into the warm light of Christ.
“Fellow reader, always remember that a soul needs you to clean his signature from hell and append his signature in heaven, never let him down”.
