- MISSION STATEMENT
In line with the theme for the year, we are “put(ting) on the full amour of God so that we can take (our) stand against the devil’s schemes” (Eph. 6:11 NIV). We would do this by embarking on THE ARMOUR MISSION (availing ourselves, reading and memorizing scriptures, obeying the Word of God, uniting in prayer and reaching out to both the saved and the lost).
Avail; we must be available for God’s use. God is not seeking the most qualified or gifted; rather He is seeking those who are available, dependable and willing to be used.
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Is. 6:8 NIV).
Read; the Master has a life manual (The Bible) which serves as a guide for living and instructs us concerning the will of God. We therefore, need to search the scriptures by reading it daily. We thus want to encourage personal Bible Study and the observance of quiet time. At our evening prayer meetings, at least a member would be asked to share with the group his/her quiet time. In addition, a Bible Quiz would be organized in the second semester of this academic year as part of our 50th Anniversary. Members would also be sent questions for grading on the theme book; Ephesians.
“And if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God” (Prov, 2:3-5 NIV).Memorize; there is the need for us to store up the Word of God in our hearts so we become effective prayer warriors, praying according to God’s will and be able to wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. This we can do by diligently studying and memorizing scriptures.
“My son, if you accept my words “This is the confidence we
and store up my commands within you,… have in approaching God:
then you will understand the fear of the that if we ask anything
LORD and find the knowledge of God according to his will, he
(Prov. 2:1-5 NIV). hears us” (1 Jn. 5:14 NIV)Obey; the Word of God through obedience must transform us. We must avoid both delayed and selective obedience. We must be faithful to our God in our study of His word, in prayer, in the payment of our tithes and dues, in our relationship and fellowship with Him.
“But Samuel replied:
‘Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams!” (1 Sam. 15:22 NIV)Unite; for us to be able to fully arm ourselves there is also the need to be united in all we do as a union. The role of united prayer in bringing revival and attaining results, for example, should not be underestimated (prayer for the world, for Africa, for our nation, for the body of Christ, for lay workers and the clergy, for the university community, for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and most importantly, for NUPS-G).
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all saints” (Eph. 6:18 NIV).
“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me” (Jn. 17:22, 23 NIV).
Reach Out; we have been sent to reach out to the world. We must “… talk about [the scriptures] when [we] sit at home and when [we] walk along the road, when [we] lie down and when [we] get up” (Deut. 6:7 NIV).
Thus, we must not only witness during P-SICE but more importantly, we must witness to those around us, in our halls, dormitories, classrooms, lecture rooms and on the streets of our campuses. We would also reach out by carrying out coordination activities, schools ministrations, church visitations, health education programmes and health screening exercises.
“To be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, we must put on the full armour of God … The Christian armour is made to be worn and there is no putting off till the fight is won and our cause finished”.

- ENDOWMENT FUND*
The NUPS-G Endowment Fund was established in 2002 to cater for three major needs of the union, namely;
- Schools Coordination
- Presbyterian Students In Church Evangelism (P-SICE)
- Assist needy students
Through coordination activities, the union came to the realization of the pressing needs of a considerable number of students within the coordinating branch. Thus, the executive body dedicated the entire fund to assisting needy students with effect from 2007.
In order to affect the lives of many students within the coordinating branch, the executive body decided to make it mandatory for each of the ten (10) sub-coordinating branches to present at least one person to be taken care of by the Fund for at least one year.
The Endowment Fund has so far catered for over twenty (20) students in the Senior High Schools, Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and the University of Ghana since its inceptioBetween August and September 2008, about GH¢1500 was spent on payment of fees and other expenditures of some of our members.
The major source of income for the fund has been the proceeds from the annual Endowment Fund Day. Other sources of income for the fund are members, other benevolent individuals and churches.

- Presbyterian Students In Church Evangelism (P-SICE)
The Presbyterian Students In Church Evangelism (P-SICE) was formerly known as Students In Church Evangelism (SICE). The name was changed as a result of a decision taken by the 2008 General Assembly.
The P-SICE is an annual evangelistic programme. The objective of P-SICE is to win souls for Christ, reactivate the backslidden, and establish healthy Christ-based communities as well as church planting in the name of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The programme is held in two phases because of differences in academic calendars of the universities and the other tertiary institutions. The P-SICE has afforded and continues to afford members of NUPS-G the opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with many people, especially in deprived areas of the country. During these P-SICE programmes, revivals, witnessing, crusades, healing, deliverance and counseling sessions have been the main features. Receently, UG has introduced street freeze, tracts evangelism and Jesus shopping. Aside sharing the word of God with the people, the union undertakes voluntary work camps and community development activities like classroom teaching, community cleaning, medical outreaches, etc. For instance, during the UG 2008 P-SICE within the Akuapem Presbytery, the Union embarked on a painting project in one of the rural towns, and a medical outreach at Nyamebekyere. Through sponsorship from the Kantamanto Used Clothing Traders Association, used clothes are donated to the people in the areas we visit. The union wins over one hundred (100) souls each year it embarks on this programme. The yearly P-SICE costs the UG Coordinating Branch over forty thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢40,000) each year, a part borne by the union, with funds raised from its members and benevolent individuals, and the other part borne by the church.
A major challenge to this programme has been the difficulty in obtaining funds for its organization.

- BASELFEST
Every year, the Union celebrates a festival dubbed ‘BASELFEST’ (Basel Festival) to learn more about the works of the missionaries whose passion for souls and relentless efforts gave birth to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. This is also meant to remind us that as vibrant young people, we also have a role to play in winning souls for God. This festival is climaxed with a night of praise and adoration, dubbed ‘Presbypraise’.
